This artwork depicts an episode from Moses’s youth, which is narrated in Exodus 2:16-22. The seven daughters of Jethro, priest of the land of Midian, while drawing water from a well and filling troughs to water their father’s flock, are troubled by a group of Midianite shepherds who take advantage of the labors of the young women to water their own herds. Moses, sitting near the well, intervenes in defense of Jethro’s daughters, who, thanks to his help, can finally water their flocks. In recognition of the meritorious action performed by the young Moses, Jethro gives him the hand of one of his daughters, Zipporah. Artwork by Saraceni
Ex 2:16-22
16Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17But shepherds came and drove them away. So Moses rose up in their defense and watered their flock.
18When they returned to their father Reuel,* he said to them, “How is it you have returned so soon today?”
19They answered, “An Egyptian* delivered us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock!”
20“Where is he?” he asked his daughters. “Why did you leave the man there? Invite him to have something to eat.”
21Moses agreed to stay with him, and the man gave Moses his daughter Zipporah in marriage.
22She conceived and bore a son, whom he named Gershom;* for he said, “I am a stranger residing in a foreign land.”f

Saying the holy name of Jesus is the simplest way of praying always.
1-A prayer from Raphael the Archangel:
*While you are on this earth, you must praise the Lord God and give him thanks.
2-A prayer from Tobit and Tobias:
*They began to sing hymns of praise, giving thanks for all the mighty deeds God had done while his angel Raphael had been with them.
3-A simple Jesus prayer:
*Lord, Lord, Jesus Christ…Son of God…have mercy on me…Be kind to others…Work Hard…Be joyful.
4-Another prayer:
*When all that God asks of us is to be quiet and keep ourselves at peace-attentive to the secret work He is beginning in our souls-Be Empty and See That I Am God.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
