*The Entombment of Christ – Caravaggio.

This is a dramatic and famous painting of the burial of Jesus, by the Master CaravaggioNicodemus holds the Savior’s legs and John holds Christ’s wounded side. The Blessed Mother stands behind the apostle, stretching out her arms in longing for a final embrace of her Divine Son. Mary Magdalene stands beside the Blessed Virgin, her head bowed before Christ’s body. Mary of Cleophas stands behind the others, her face and hands raised in grief. The group appears to have paused at the stone slab, which marks the entrance to the burial chamber of the cave tomb. Christ’s limp right hand touches the stone, which is a symbol of Himself as the Founder of the Church.

**Good Friday Night.

This moving, antique illustration shows Veronica (the woman who wiped the face of Jesus on His way to Mt. Calvary) displaying the holy cloth, with the face of Christ imprinted  on it, to the Virgin Mary, on the evening of the Crucifixion — Good Friday Night.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Jn 14:16-17
